John walked in with every intention of just sitting down and nursing a beer. They were on their way to send the Leviathan off, to say goodbye, and it was getting harder with every moment they came closer. They had helped John a lot in the past few weeks ( Read more... )

And across the room {A million miles away} there was a woman he might remember. Or maybe he'd forgotten her face, her scent, the way her mouth pursed into a tight line when she was concerned, as she was now.

Then again, how do you forget your reason for breathing?

Her own breathing hitched, eyes fixing on the man she ran away from. The man she didn't intend to see again until she had a handle on her own feelings. Escape was impossible and try as she might she couldn't tear her eyes away.

He would never ever forget her face, the way she smells, every face she ever made. The way she looked with her eyes closed, the way she looked any time, any day...all the time, every day. The way she looked under him, over him, with him.

He still thought of her every day. He sees her all the time, in his mind.

But he hasn't seen her yet, he's too busy tickling the little girl in his arms, making faces at her, grinning at her girlish squeals.

And then he makes the mistake (is it every a mistake when it comes to her?) of glancing up and catching her across the room. Just a glimpse and his heart seizes in his chest.

Her eyes didn't move, clenched to his with a hopeless abandon; pleading, wanting, commanding - I can't handle this.

Apparently being a cold, heartless soldier didn't do much good when it came to the only man who'd ever made her do other than her will.

Her feet moved of their own accord, leading her to the other side of the bar from him. Her fingers clenched against the dark wood and she finally wrenches her gaze to his chin, somewhere safer.

"Is she yours?" Perhaps he had moved on. Maybe she was speaking the words of a ghost.

"Hardly." John said, his voice breaking slightly. He hefts Amelia on his hip and cranes his neck to look at her. She smiles sadly, and leans forward to kiss his scruffy cheek, trying to be helpful. Trying to be a rock for him.

"It's...it's only been a while since you left." He smooths hair out of Amelia's face. "This is Amelia. She's...Jaina's niece, right?"

Nodding, the little girl smiles softly at Aeryn. "Are you an' Mister John fwends?"

"How are you?" She asks, shyly, blinking her wide brown eyes at him.

Two people walk up to the bar, one looks slightly annoyed with the other, but somehow relieved. The other is giddy with excitement at running into the first. These two, are of course, Vala Maldoran, and Daniel Jackson.

"Daniel, I cannot tell you how good it is to see you here. Maybe I can come through your door in your lab?"

"Vala, you've been pronounced dead. That may not go over well..."

"But how many times have you been pronounced dead, or were dead. And you always came back."

He facepalmed.

"Would you like a drink?" he asked avoiding that stream of conversation.

"Cam?" asked Daniel of the barkeep, Daniel was clearly confused, "I didn't know you knew about this place."

Vala waved and grinned.

They are making an honest mistake, please don't kill him.

Since the mun has lost the webpage, pretend like John tells her what's in it, with an easy smile on his face and Amelia on his hip. :D?

Her smile just grows as she listens,

"Perhaps just a red wine. Darling, is this kind man your father?"

"No." Amelia shakes her head, shyly laying her head on John's shoulder. "He's just a fwend."

"Miss Amelia and I are the best of friends," John smiles, hefting her up and sliding the woman her wine. "Here you go, darlin'."
