The story is a very tame one, with minimal violence, none of ti graphic at all, long enthralling descriptions of wonderful vistas and interesting people... and richly decorated too.

Ravin picked a book that would not disturb Neric.

It's a tough balance, knowing enough of violence to be able to interact with people from other worlds without crumpling into a ball, while still being able to go home and be among the peaceful and innocent people of Green-sky.

He appreciates the effort she had gone to, to find an appropriate book. And he is fascinated by the story, too.

He rests his head on her shoulder while they read.

She continues to read, in her low, soft voice, line after line, unraveling the story from the elven script it is in to common language.

She never imagined things could be so peaceful in her life.

The shapes of the script look very different from the words he is used to reading, on the rare occasions that he reads.

He tries for a while to figure out what the letters might be, but when he can't find any connection between them--as it is in translation--he contents himself with listening to her.

He loves her voice.
