River walks passed Ace with an armload of books. She gets about two steps passed and pauses, wobbling a bit as she catches the top few. Slowly, she reverses course and peers around the stack.

This is followed by a bit of scramble and something of a flop and then, quickly enough, a pajama-clad little girl taking up some of the available booth-space next to her.
