"Not yet. Maybe after lunch."

He smiles at her, and it looks like a real one, except that it doesn't quite reach his eyes.

"How are you, kiddo?"

"I'm okay," Hannah says.

"My professors are obligingly giving me lots to think about this semester.

"How are you?"

"Mighty generous of them," Booth says, grinning. "Professors are good like that, I've noticed."

He shrugs. "I'm in the middle of massive reviews. Yanked off cases until further notice. So it's paperwork for me."

Not good times at the Hoover building. Not at all.

"Hello, Special Agent Seeley Booth," says what is probably a familiar voice. If he looks to the left, he'll see Coyote doing tequila shots a few seats away. (She was thinking about Lilly and got nostalgic.)

"Did you solve your bear problem?"

That's...a lot of empty glasses, right there.

"Yeah, somebody um. 'Took care' of the bear. Or so I hear. And I'm not generally so unconcerned about things, these days."

It's too bad. He could stand a little less concern.

"Pity," she says, as her lips quirk up in a smile. "I do hope you don't find me unpleasant now. We got along so well last time. And I have been faithful! No FBI agents have chased me since."

"Unpleasant? Not the word I'd use."

Booth laughs, ruefully. "It was a good chase, wasn't it? Haven't done that in years."

He'd be upset at her, or try to arrest her, or something, but this whole Zach thing has taken some of the Righteous Lawman-ness out of him somehow.

Besides, she lives in another universe. Leave the girl alone.

"You want a slice of pie to go with that?" asks the way-too-cheerful redhead who wanders by shortly after he gets his food.

"Always," Booth says. Who doesn't love a cheerful redhead suggesting pie?

"What looks good to day? Or have you checked out the selection?"

"Don't tell anyone," Charlie smirks conspiratorially, "But I may have snuck a bit earlier..."

"And today I'm liking the peach."

"Peach it is," Booth says. "And come one, if you're not sneaking pie here, you're not enjoying all the amenities the end of the universe has to offer."

He holds out a hand. "Seeley Booth, of Washington, D.C. Call me Booth."
