The door opens and a familiar small figure walks in, looking around the room.

He remembers that a few of his own were here, and he isn't just going to abandon them.

Gaius hears the call and joins the others downstairs. Battle's coming; he can feel it. They can all feel it. Like a good warrior should.

April has been doing... nothing. Not breathing, not eating. Just lying on her bed.

But the call comes, the call she was waiting for, and she comes downstairs stiffly, her gas mask face unreadable. Since it's, y'know, a gas mask.

He has been waiting for the call for some time, but it doesn't matter how long. It only matters that it is here now.

Slowly, stiffly, he gets up and makes his way downstairs to stand by the leader's side.

The others join the group just as silently, crowding into the space the leader has set aside for them. They stand behind him, motionless sentinels awaiting the oncoming storm.

The Doctor stops several feet back from the group, holding arms out to either side to stop Nancy and Rose.

"You've been busy, I see," he tells the little boy.

The stubby little figure turns, fixing him with that empty stare.

"You can see me now."

"... that's never gonna get any less creepy, is it?" Rose murmurs to no one in particular.

It hasn't yet quite occurred to her to ask why they've apparently followed the gasmask zombie infestation to a pub, of all places.

The Doctor ignores her; his attention is focused on the horde.

"Yes, I see you. I can see all of you. You've been awfully naughty, you know that?"

They get through the door without incident, and it's a gate set in a wire fence from the other side.

And then... well, the Child's army are waiting for him, and he and his stragglers go to join them.

"Right," the Doctor says. "Now that's sorted. One big happy Chula warrior mob family." He looks over to the right where Jack's still waiting. "What's the matter, Captain? Bit close to the volcano for you?"

Jack doesn't answer, staring at the crowd of zombies around them.

Nancy, on the other hand, only has eyes for one.

"He's just a little boy."

"So what are we gonna do?" Rose asks, not so much impatient as hoping someone here has a plan to pull them out of the fire.
