The door opens and a familiar small figure walks in, looking around the room.

He remembers that a few of his own were here, and he isn't just going to abandon them.

The Doctor stops several feet back from the group, holding arms out to either side to stop Nancy and Rose.

"You've been busy, I see," he tells the little boy.

The stubby little figure turns, fixing him with that empty stare.

"You can see me now."

"... that's never gonna get any less creepy, is it?" Rose murmurs to no one in particular.

It hasn't yet quite occurred to her to ask why they've apparently followed the gasmask zombie infestation to a pub, of all places.

The Doctor ignores her; his attention is focused on the horde.

"Yes, I see you. I can see all of you. You've been awfully naughty, you know that?"

The boy leader tilts his head, slow and eerily far.

"Naughty?"

[ibringlife]

"That's not a suggestion," Rose says to the child, from back behind the Doctor, where she's trying really hard not to be freaked out.

[thedoctorwho]

"Yes, you've been very naughty," the Doctor continues, sternly. "And now I think it's time you come home. Right now. And bring all your little friends with you. I'm going to talk to their parents as well when we get back."

What the hell, it worked last time.

Oddly enough, it seems to be working this time too. It may be the tone, it may be the word 'parents', but the little boy's head droops sadly and he takes a step forward.

"Can't believe that worked again," Rose says, infinitely relieved that it did.

Well. At least for the few seconds before she realizes that they're sort of trapped between the zombies on this side of the door and the ones they left behind.

The Doctor seems to come to a similar realization a moment or so later.

He backs toward the door, nudging the girls with him, never taking his eyes off the little boy.

"That's right. Come on home, now. We need to have a long talk."

The door's almost behind him now, and he makes a silent entreaty to anyone who'll listen to the effect of could he please, please not be Bound right now?

The little boy keeps walking towards the Doctor, not looking up, and his followers come after him.

Rose backs up til she can reach the doorknob. She closes her eyes for a moment, takes a deep breath --
