There's a face in the bar tonight that will probably be unfamiliar to some, and familiar to a few. He's seated near the observation window, armed with a newspaper and a cup of coffee. Or, rather, the coffee decorates the small table next to said chair, and the gentleman in question is staring over the paper at nothing in particular

Will has been struggling over writing out poetry and blinks in surprise at seeing Merlin before all is put away,

"Tis that truly ye, Merlin?"

The paper rustles after a moment, lowering just enough for him to peer over the top at the person who just addressed him, faintly puzzled expression giving way to a smile.

"Indeed it is, Master Scarlett."

"Where 'ave ye been 'idin' yerself?"

Merlin gets a quick hug and bow mixed together.

"At home? Ruling an entire empire, kingdom... whatever you want to call it, takes effort." Merlin looks slightly agrieved about it. But he will return the hug. "No bowing, remember?"

He has a Medusa.

She wouldn't have surprised him, not with her bangles and feathers and snakes, but she's still there and looking at the cover of the newspaper, curiously.

"Hey, beautiful." Who cares if that's what her boyfriend calls her. Not like it's patented or anything.

The newspaper is the morning edition and chock full of important, and several useless, facts about the upcoming elections.

A half-smile at that.

"Merlin. Haven't seen you for a while."

"Been busy at home, Medusa. You've been keeping yourself busy aside from pining for me?"

He's kidding, Gorgon. Mostly.

A hand waves through his line of vision.

The hand is summarily paid attention to after a few seconds and Merlin glances up to eye the blonde. "Hello, there."

"Hi," says Buffy, who hadn't really thought ahead beyond making sure the guy's alive. "You okay there?"

"Doing grand, thanks. I'd be doing even grander if the angel in front of me would give her name."

The narration apologies for the schmoozing.

There's a new face at the table diagonal, and he gives a little wave when he sees Merlin. "Hi. Haven't see you around."

"Hi. Haven't been around." Whoah. Someone else who can state the obvious in a pleasant manner. Cool.

They are well on their way to smalltalk!

"Yeah? By choice? Because I was locked out of the bar for like seven months once."

Not sure if Merlin can sense magic/the demonic, but if so there's a note in Billy's profile with what you would need to know.

They are! Could be the start of a beautiful, of somewhat Neanderthalic, friendship. "Been pretty busy at home, and Bar was kind enough to put Herself in my path this evening."

He can, but the lack of humanity wouldn't bother him at all.

It is an Amberite again, at last -- and not just any Amberite, it's Merlin!

That is such good news, Teja indeed greets him with a smile when he sees him.

"Merlin! It is good to see you again, my friend!"

Yes, yes it is. And surely Bar has been poorer for his absence. "Teja!" Pause. "Who hit you with the good mood whammy?" Because, you know, the goth is smiling. This tends to make Merlin suspicious.

"I was hit with nothing!" Teja protests; but then, he realises what Merlin would mean.

"I have had almost a year of peace now, of friends and cats and much philosophy not known to my world; I might no longer be as dark and grim as I used to be."
