"--what do you mean calling yourself a tavern-keep without having any rum on hand, you pestiferous, feculent, maggot-ridden excuse for a --"

He's shouting back over his shoulder as he comes barreling through the door, but when he swings around and realizes where he is, Jack Sparrow breaks off there with a start.

"Well now. That's much more ( Read more... )

And is promptly hit in the midsection with a glass of rum.

Raven is good.

And possibly also laughing, yes?

It is a thing.

"Careful, lass!"

He clutches the glass in a frantic attempt to keep it from sloshing all over him.

"Be a horrible waste to go spilling rum, savvy?"

"It is, I think, not so difficult to buy more, so."

This is Raven's unrepentant face.

She wears it a lot.

"But you'd still have lost some," he argues. "No need to be doing that."

He takes a swig to prove his point -- whatever it is -- and offers it back to her.

Ingress looks around to see someone she hasn't seen in FOREVER.

"JACK!" she shrieks in glee. She hurtles across the room, waving as she does.

"Hi!"

Hard to miss someone with hair like that, not to mention with all the shrieking and flailing. Jack's got plenty of time to ready himself to catch her up and swing her around, laughing.

"And hello to you too, Ingress-me-lass!"

She hugs him around his neck before she's dropped on her feet again.

"I haven't seen you in a really long time. Have you been sailing far, far away?"

"Far away and back again," he says, with a knowing smile. Jack pats his own pockets before coming up with a string of cowrie shells on leather cord, which he offers to her.

"Now that there's something what's used as coin in some places, savvy?"

"... Dare I ask where you found yourself, if they didn't have rum at hand?"

Given that in the West Indies, that tends to be the drink of choice-

But this is Jack.

He could be anywhere.

"Somewhere better forgotten," Jack says darkly, before giving Wellard a wicked grin.

"Good to see you, lad."

"Well, if it brought you here, that place can at least be forgiven." Wellard grins, walking over.

"Good to see you too, Jack. How have things been going for you?" He motions to the bar, and starts in that direction.

He falls into step beside Wellard.

"Not bad, if I say so meself, and I do. What about you, mate? And your flying ship?"

"Y-- You!"

It's a yelp, slightly strangled, but it's as indignant as Father Mulcahy gets; he realizes perfectly well who has just come up to the bar beside him.

(He is, for the record, wearing a green cap.)

He's heard that sort of reaction before, enough so that Jack swings round very rapidly to see who's choking.

"... hello, mate. Father. Reverend."

A beat, and a bright, wicked smile.

"I take it you recognize me."

Mulcahy points at him, his voice pitched just a little bit higher than normal. "You're the man who stole my hat!"

"No I didn't!" he counters, swiftly. "You've got it right there on your head!"

"Besides, I've got a hat of me own, Jack adds, pointing to his own battered tricorn. "And a very fine hat it is, too."

He cocks his head sideways, eyeing the green cap. Solicitously,

"Not that yours is all that bad, I reckon. No feathers, at least."

Charlie's in the bar, sipping a hard lemonade and looking vaguely about for somebody.

This isn't that somebody, but her eyes widen at the sight of him and she starts to smile.

Guess the ship must be back.

There's no ship in the lake outside, but Jack doesn't seem troubled by it as he weaves his way through the room.

His glance lands on bright red hair, and a grin splits his face.

"Hello there, luv."

"'S been a while, aye?"

From his expression, he knows perfectly well that it has.
