Carlos looks a little bedraggled as he makes his way into the bar, leaning somewhat on his staff, but he makes an effort to smile as he walks to the counter.

Carlos isn't the only one with notes on the brain. Axel's are looseleaf and unlined, but he has them in hand (along with an old-fashioned fountain pen) as he approaches the bar.

"Hey," he says, giving Carlos a nod. "Pepper tea," he continues, setting a hand on Bar's surface. "Thanks."

Carlos gives a hand back, almost saluting before smiling at Axel's order.

"It's a little warm for tea, don't you think?"

He continues before Axel can answer.

"Forget I said it, because I forgot for a moment who I was talking to. Have it memorized now. How you doing, Axel?"

"Paperwork?"

He snorts.

"It's a bitch, yeah? I've been going through plenty of it recently."

One of Axel's ex-superiors is in the bar. He is currently engaged in the nefarious task of evaluating hammers.

It gets a sideways look from Carlos but nothing more or less. Well, a little more.

He frowns to himself thoughtfully before having another sip of his beer.

The two are weighed, frowned at, and returned. A slightly different set appear. It takes a while before he's satisfied, and then his conversation with the bar turns to questions of nails. Indoor, outdoor, carpet, the whole nine yards.

"Building a fence?"

It's the only thing he can think of.
