Milliversary Post!

Aug 02, 2008 16:46

There's a young boy, settled at one of the tables, surrounded by girly-coloed construction paper, glitter pens, glue, and paper doilies. Also on the table, is a very large order of paradoxes and a cupcake with a candle in it.

To the Milliways Calender Day...Tyler's officially been here one year.

Come on and say hi.

"Valentine's Day for you?"

Carlos tipped his chin to the colored paper and glitter. That's the only reason he'd been using that kind of thing when he was younger.

"Mmmyup. Valentine's day 2006." Kid is a couple years behind the Milliways curve... but that's standard for patrons.

"Making them myself."

"I see," he says with a nod that says he takes that very important holiday and the artistic stresses within.

"Always the best way."

"...it was either this or I used these."

With that a foil box with a wonderfully colorful array of super hero pictures, cheesy puns and joke cards is produced, featuring some team known as the Earth Defense League.

Odd that a kid would turn down using these flashy ones.

"Ooh!" says the Snorklewacker in delight. (He walks surprisingly lightly for something his size.) "Might I borrow one of those?"

He is pointing to the glitter pens.

"Oh, thank you!" He grabs the orange one and trots back into the closet.

Several minutes later, he re-emerges and returns the pen, with the glitter-glue in the transparent tube about an inch lower. "Thank you very much!" he chirps, and wanders off.

...It's probably better not to ask.

Tyler's not touching that pen until he gets the -full- decontamination done on it.

Yeeeeigh.

Ray, as has been noted elsewhere, is easily distracted by shiny objects. Glitter qualifies.

"hey, Tyler. How's it going?"

"Pretty decent actually. Malphast's getting the hang of playing chinese checkers and trading card games." A beat. "And Valentines day is coming up."

"Hence the card making materials. Gotcha," Ray says. "Good luck with that- I always stunk at V-day when I was a kid."

"Thanks, I think I'll need all the luck I can get." Tyler replies solemnly. "Did I tell you my after-school tutor has shown up in the Bar?"

It's not the colours of the paper - sprites aren't much inclined to colour-bias. It's not even the glitter.

It's the doilies.

Even to sprites, some things are pretty darn girly.

Thus Enzo's 'errrrr?' expression as he asks, "What're you doing?"

"Making valentines day cards for my class."

"Valentine's... oh, right! The love holiday?"

"That's right, though I told Malphast it was mostly about sharing candy and strengthing friendships."

Do you want the kid of an angel and a demon getting the wrong ideas about what to do for Valentine's day?
