"No, no--yes, but not that, no," he says, awkwardly. "This is cleansing to the body. We are made of electricity--everything is, it is all around us and passing through us. And if we can direct it, gently, it is very... cleansing. Most pleasant."
No, definitely not. Although given Ray's propensities, he's probably going to be staring at the box and its contents with an 'oooooh' expression for a long time before he notices the sign...
"Hello again," says Tesla with a smile. "I have brought an old experiment with me--not even an experiment anymore, I know what happens. But enjoyable all the same."
It's a bit primitive-looking, jars and wires and a bit of cotton, but for all that, it's very well-made.
"It was designed--I have long believed that electricity, alternating current of course, but electricity applied to the body at low levels is very healthy, very cleansing. This was designed for that. Not too much voltage, not enough to hurt, just enough to feel... more alive, I suppose? To feel the universal currents of energy that are always passing through the air."
Tesla is by this point used to being stared at--he knows some of the staff of the hotel where he lives, for instance, think he is an alien or a vampire. He knows many more people think he is simply insane. It's part of why he doesn't spend much time among people anymore.
But here he is, and after a brief glance to his pigeon for reassurance he offers Jack a nervous smile.
There is a small bit of staring on Tesla's part as well.
She reminds him of someone he once knew, someone he hasn't seen in a very long time, and he studies her to see whether she could be the same. One never knows, in here.
OOC-Please tell me it's not too late to tag? I wanted to check if Artemus wold know of Tesla or not before tagging.
Artemus Gordon is not familiar with Tesla's work; nor much of Electrical Engineering to be honest. He is from a time that is a decade too early to have heard of him.
Had he however, I do believe Mr. Tesla would be dealing with an enthusiastic fan. As it is, Mr. Tesla is presented with a curious and mildly suspicious man who says, "What's that you got there? So sort of battery?"
He is much more comfortable discussing his work than himself, with strangers. But then, he hasn't had much chance to discuss either one with strangers, or anything else for that matter, in a very long time. Partly by choice.
But what man of science could resist the end of the universe?
"It is," he says with a nod. "A small experiment from many years ago, but a successful one."
"What does do?" he asks a little excited despite himself. Artemus is a man who loves gadgets and while electrical engineering is in its infancy in his world, he can see its potential.
"It applies small amounts of magnetic electricity to the human body, cleansing and relaxing. Very therapeutic--I use it on myself, and have for a long time. At my age... well, I believe it has helped my health. I am in perfect health."

So he observes the man, and his implements, with interest and curiosity.
[[OOC: We now have four threads!!! But I couldn't resist!]]

But that's another matter.
He smiles nervously. "Have you ever experienced the cleansing power of electricity?"

And stared.
But incredulousness shortly turned into irritation and irritation was so easily turned into anger. He was a young man, a young man cut down.
He was also something else, and that didn't help.

Nah, it can't be... Right?
She is staring a bit.

She doesn't sound like the woman he knew. But that's not necessarily a guarantee.
