A man steps through the door, carrying a box and accompanied by a pigeon.

The man is very tall, very thin; elderly, but still alert, still sharp. His suit is old-fashioned and threadbare, but his appearance is neat and well-tended. He may not have money or recognition, but he still has pride and dignity.

It's not that Tesla looks like the stereotypical mad scientist. The stereotype was modeled on him.

He doesn't particularly like going out, especially nowadays, but his beloved pigeon had told him he should, that it would be for the best. He carries the box over to the couch by the fire and sets it on the table. The pigeon perches on the mantel, watching, comforting.

In the box is a battery that looks a bit like a heart made of glass and metal, with wires coming from it. He sets it on the table, along with a sign that says Electricity: 5 cents

Surely not too much money for the healing power of science.
