Drive-by, Ambush Hugs

Jun 22, 2008 13:30

There is a small, cuddly, soft two-foot tall teddy bear wandering the bar today. He's cheerful and smiling and accompanied by the smell of freshly laundered clothes.

He might be looking for something. He might just be wandering aimlessly. It's kind of hard to tell, with teddy bears.

A walking, possibly breathing, teddy bear is not something Eirene runs into on a daily basis, so Snuggle will at least get a curious stare from the resident accident-waiting-to-happen.

A stare! There's only one appropriate responnse to a stare!

The walking, possibly breathing, teddy bear dashes over, gives her a huge smile, hugs her, and then dashes off.

See, now that's the kind of walking teddy bear she likes. Eirene continues on her way, spirits uplifted even moreso than usual.

Often grumpy, always sarcastic, runaway teenage girl with dead super-villain parents? Oh yeah, she might not want it, but she could TOTALLY do with having her spirits uplifted.

Gert is sitting at the bar when the bear wanders into the bar. She gives the it a quick glance, raises an eyebrow and then goes back to her conversation. Surprisingly enough (or maybe not - this is after all Milliways) a anthropomorphic teddy bear is not the strangest thing she's ever seen.

Oh, noes! That poor girl at the bar looks like she could really, really use a hug!

Fortunatesly, that's something Snuggle can help with.

He climbs up onto the closest bar stool, leans across, and throws his arms around her neck in a quick hug, before hopping down and rushing off.

Chloe smells fabric softener. LOTS of fabric softener.

Her eyes quickly find the source of the potent smell. She rolls her eyes and facepalms.

Oh why the hell not- we've had fairies, werewolves, a possessed speak and spell, why not a freaking talking bear? At least this gives her a reason to drink the whole bottle of wine.

Why not, indeed?

"Have a nice day!" the bear says, with all the enthusiasm lacking from about a dozen convenience store clerks.

He hugs her and dances off.

Dammit if using her taser wasn't against the rules... Personal... space... viola-

"Aw... hehe!"

There is something so very wrong here, but darned if Chloe can figure out what.

Maybe one of her friends might know! And if they don't, well, that's fine too, no biggie!

Clark, it must be said, isn't really on the lookout for walking teddy bears (although his first thought would be 'robot' not 'walking teddy bear' even if he was). So it's possible he happens in the way of said bear on his way to the bar.

Very, very possible. In fact, it has just happened.

"Hello, up there!" the non-robotic walking teddy bear calls, before hugging one of Clark's legs and racing off.

Tom enters the bar through the House of Arch painting. His eyes usually tend to take in the bar proper, and not the floor (unless he hears scuttling, and then you better believe he'll be peering into the shadows).

In any case, even if he saw the bear down there, he'd categorize it as a child's dropped toy.

Watching the floor might not have helped in this case, as Snuggle has climbed onto a table to look around the bar.

As Tom goes past, Snuggle reaches out and gives him a hug, then jumps down from the table and scampers off.

Tom reacts a moment too late to prevent the hug from the bizarre creature.

But then there is hugging and laundry-fresh goodness and nothing matters anymore.
