Teja has done as Jadis had suggestedToday, he's taken his guitar and a 'sun screen' (which turned out to be a potion in a bottle) to the part of the lake where it is a sea, and the ship that ferries the dead sometimes makes berth

Sunscreen? Carlotta has never heard of the stuff! But the tree rustles.

"We have a lot of outdoor games."

"But some would not like them?" Teja suggests. "And enjoy numbers, instead?"

[fiery_ring]

"Well Alison and Sadie always complain it messes their hair up, Prudence fancies herself at clever conversation and Pam works too hard."

[ostro_goth]

But you enjoy it?" Teja says. "So enjoy it, and let them be. You were the one who was different; now you have found friends, do not in turn shun those that are still different."

Carlotta lays upon Teja a rather ferocious scowl, considering he's someone she likes and looks up to.

"I saved Sadie from a kidnapping the day before yesterday that was only able to happen because Prudence thought it was me and tried to get me in trouble rather than reporting it. Oh, and I've befriended Pam on the request of the head, so that she can't be taken over by Prudence again. And I and the whole class are being nice to Prudence again because she's leaving at the end of term. I think I've done my bit, thank you very much."

"That was much drama," Teja says, levelly, "of which I never heard before!"

Pause.

"Yes, you showed yourself willing and helpful. Would you sit?"

[fiery_ring]

"I am sitting."

"You didn't ask, you just assumed I treat them like they treat me."

She sits. "Sorry. I was rude to you then."

"And I assumed things, so I should apologise, also," Teja says.

[fiery_ring]

Carlotta isn't sure he needs to, but she drops it.

"Pam's a big help with my classwork. Not that I'm using her or anything."

[ostro_goth]

"You might yet be friends," Teja says. "Some do like learning more than athletics."

[fiery_ring]

"Oh I never said I don't like her. She's never been on my hit list, although I didn't like the way she kept allowing Prudence to spy on me."

[ostro_goth]

"Prudence, though, the little girl from the priest-house, she is an archenemy?" Teja says, amused.

[fiery_ring]

"Yes. I am under strict instructions that even though we're being nice to her, she isn't to be allowed anywhere near Pam."

[ostro_goth]

"So she cannot try and get that other girl under her sway again?" Teja asks.

[fiery_ring]

Carlotta nods.

"Prudence has not been good for Pam. She is much to clever for her age, and tends to hide in her work when she's unhappy, and she worked herself to exhaustion whilst Prudence just used her."
