It's been a long time. Even if it hasn't been all that long, to Ryoko it feels like a lifetime. She's walking with her nose in one of the three books she's carrying, and it takes tripping over a chair to make her look up

"Ryoko?" Oh look, it is Ben. But he does not tackle her, he just walks over.

Even if he is much happy about seeing her, the boy also has a lot in his mind.

"Ben, hi!" She tears her eyes from the text and waves to Ben to take the chair next to her. Ryoko is glad to see him, but this isn't a time for exuberant greetings. "How are you?"

"Missed you too." A good hug, sometimes better than caffeine. "Me? I'm alive." A wry smile. She looks tired, her previously ageless face now showing a line here and there.

"You said 'I guess'? Is something wrong?"
