[OOC:
And Then The Nightmares Come]
David enters the bar quietly and takes some food to a booth where he sits, contemplating life, the universe and everything. the food on his plate.
He looks better for the little sleep he'd gotten, but still doesn't look good.
At least he could smile today if he tried.

He raises his cup of tea in a salute of sorts.
"Bonjour," he says, without thinking.

"Bonjour, m'sieur David. I hope the day finds you better."

He regards the man quickly. He's definitely familiar. "And may I join you?"

"You look...slightly better than I feel. How are you, David?"

"What has you feeling so down?" he asks when he sits back from the hug, hand on Nick's thigh, comforting.

"My...other self did something rather...upsetting. Mostly, we agree on the most...important things, but he found no trouble in doing something which...could very well have hurt the people I love. It was distressing. I suppose...I should be more upset, but I'm...trying to be good about it. LaCroix...LaCroix and Natalie both told me that it wasn't my fault and that they'd rather not see me beat myself up about it, so I'm trying."
He takes a sip. Orange juice?
He grins rather crookedly and points to the cup.
"This is helping a bit. The absurdity and...novelty keeps surprising me out of my guilt."

"However, I must say, I'm glad they know it's not your fault. When a person isn't themself..."
He creases his brow.
"If someone is not themself, would you hold them responsible for something?"
He raises an eyebrow at the cup. "A little oranger than I'm used to, I'll admit."

Meg sees the expression in David's eyes, and something about it looks really horribly familiar.
Meg heads over.*
. . . David?

Nope, he's not deflecting. Feeling better every second he's not dreaming.

How 'bout you?
*She bites her lip.* I've wanted to talk to you the past few days, but I've been in Paris - it was only supposed to be an overnight trip but it looks like it was longer. Stupid Milliways time difference.

"What was the trip for?"
