Barbara gordon has averaged only a few hours of sleep a night for the past week, but the grin on her face as her fingers stop moving across her keyboard in trimphant stillness suggests that it's been worth it. She hits one last key before rolling over to the front door and opening it. She simply sits there, looking through the doorway into her ( Read more... )

Guppy doesn't technically need either.

But because Babs appears to be asleep, he gently puts a blanket over her. People who sleep in the bar should be helped to rest comfortably, he thinks.

At the first hint of touch, Barbara's eyes snap open and she tenses suddenly. Then she sees who it is and where she is and she relaxes just a bit. "Hello, doctor."

Guppy jumps back. Babs should be able to see that there's a small cut on his cheek, behind his hair, but that it's not bothering him much.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to wake you."

It's too late anyway. That one happy screech is enough for Barbara's head to snap up and for one hand to drop down to the side of her chair. But then she sees Sarah and Valerie and she beams.

When he starts talking Barbara's head snaps up and her eyes widen in alarm. By the time he finishes she's grinning. "I did it. I finally finished the software package for this." She hits a couple of keys and a basically-indecipherable schematic floats in the air above her table.

"Um, what is it?" All he knows is that something about her smiling about such things reminds him of Ray.

"Something Ray built for me. The short version is that it lets me send computer data through the Bar door into other places as long as the door is open."
