From a rafter overhead, a woman hangs, and pokes Marian in the head, gently. Her robes defy gravity by staying in place firmly, and she smiles softly down at her friend as she hangs there, a small knife and a thick branch in her hands.

"A greeting unto you, my dear lady."

"My dear Marian... any you wish it, when a year comes, we can have a festival."

Her eyes gleamed and then she sat back, pondering.

"Or mayhap, a Waytrip."

One eyebrow rose.

"A what?"

"A Waytrip. A journey along the roads between worlds, to see the worlds and what lies between them."

Her lips quirked up a little.

"A journey into the unknown."

Marian nodded.

"That might be nice."

Merlin nodded, then eyed the wood and notched it.

"Perhaps, until then, a tea party would be nice. Or a picnic?"

She nodded again, peering at Marian.

"Or a tea-party picnic," Marian offered, with the smallest vague amount of a smile, simply combining his words.

Merlin chuckled.

"An you wish it, then it be my pleasure. Perhaps... if you duties permit... a few days from now?"

She looked up to Marian.

"I thought we were talking of the year thing," Marian said with some confusion, thinking perhaps she had missed something.

Merlin blinked, then facepalmed.

"My pardon, Marian. For I meant to separate them, and did not do so very well. I was inclined to a Festival, and a Way Trip for the year, and for now, for these days, before then, a tea party, or picnic, or both."

Her cheeks heated red.

Marian might have blushed normally, but then she was usually also more coherent and didn't miss signs of conversation shifting.

"I am sorry. I'm rather out of it with everything, it seems. I would be glad to do something a few days from now."

Merlin's smile was a little more tired now, but there.

"Then I am happy, dear lady. But, tell! How goes your work here, with Security?"

"It's been calmer lately. I haven't had to separate or jail anyone in weeks. Though there is still the problem with people going missing."

"Oh? That is of the good, then."

She grows quiet on the next part.

"What happens, then?"

"It's rather hard to say, honestly. No secrecy, even. People seem to be vanishing in mid-air, in the middle of conversation with other people even. One more they are there and the next she aren't."

Merlin nodded, eyes going vague.

"Have there been magical investigations of such?"
