Ray is unaware of what happened last night on the lake, or that Yuna has gone back to her world. He would've made time to talk to her if he'd known. He's seen her after a Sending, after all. For now, as far as he knows, everything's pretty much the way it usually is, which by his definition of things is 'normal*'. So he's got no problem at all with ( Read more... )

Before long, Ray has an audience.
Tyria's still Bound, and reluctantly took a room after her first night in.
Today, she's changed out of her flightsuit, to clothes more suited for a morning's run. However, that's going to wait.
She's no Jedi either*, but that doesn't mean she can't appreciate what she's seeing; far from it. Antarian Rangers and Jedi have a long association back in her universe.

After the third go-round with one of the more complicated broadsword pattern-sets, Ray pauses to catch his breath a little and look around. That's when he catches sight of Tyria and waves. "Hi there," he says cheerfully. "Can I help you?"

... contrary to the icon, Ray's saber is green. The mun simply hasn't ferried an appropriate base image to any of her friends who use Photoshop.

She smiles, the cheerful mood infectious. "Excuse me for staring. I hadn't realized there were Jedi here too. Flight Officer Tyria Sarkin, of the New Republic Military," she introduces herself.

"Oh, there's actually a fairly substantia Jedi presence. Ray Stantz, of Earth," Ray says. "It's a pleasure to meet you, ma'am. Don't put yourself out trying to remember the planet name. We're sufficiently insignificant that I doubt you'd have heard of us, unless it was from somebody here. New arrival, I take it?"

"Hello!"

Monkey, why do you want to appear right behind people who are playing with sharp objects?

Because he is Monkey. Duh.

Ray spins around on one foot at the sound of the greeting. What a lucky thing that lightsabers switch off at the flick of a thumb!

"Hello!" Monkey repeats.

Personal space is something than happens to other people. And not even that, when Monkey is around.

"... have we met?" Ray says. "Because I'm almost sure that I should know you."

The mun cannot remember if these two have met. However, Ray lives near New York's Chinatown, and so can fall back on that for the familiarity at need.

Eventually Spoon, head tilted, is standing around watching. Chinese curved broadsword isn't something he's played with yet, but Spoon is quite good with other forms and can see enough to judge a little bit.

Which doesn't mean he's going to interrupt. Lan would probably appear out of nowhere, smack him around, and be stonefaced if he did.

Ray's doing tolerably well with it. As of last August he was capable of holding his own against a sword-wielding martial artist of an entirely different school for five solid minutes before Sensei Chris disarmed him. He's had a year to work on it, plus all the time-pouching effects of Milliways and TARDIS trips, plus times in the field when he's had to use the forms and techniques against the hostile spirit of the week. So he does know what he's doing, for what that's worth.

Eventually he reaches the end of the form sequence and stops, panting a little.

It's worth a lot, really. Spoon just pipes up with, "Might want to pace your breathing a little better." in addition to his polite applause.

"I'll keep that in mind," Ray says, turning around with a grin. "Thank you. I didn't want to just work with the drone today."
