((OOM: Le Chiffre, after a good long stretch of not kidnapping anyone, suddenly experiences a regression into this very bad habit. Therapy is suggested. Looots and looots of therapy. No warnings really, unless gratuitous use of poetry appalls.))The young man known as Deitmar is in the bar, wearing a band-aid on his thumb and another on his wrist, ( Read more... )

Here's someone (mostly) sane! However, he's not in the best of moods either and doesn't bother to ask before sitting down. He flares his nostrils once as he meets Deitmar's eyes and arches an eyebrow.

The canine here is Where have you been and what is going on? with a dash of Are you all right?

He's guessing 'not really', but there's a reason he hasn't asked in English.

"Drink? It's on me." This isn't Deitmar's wallet and doesn't smell like him. ". . . I didn't catch that. I've--" he pauses. "I was hit over the head and spent a while kept away from the bar. Never mind why. Anyway, I got myself out of it." There's a touch of pride in his voice there. He doesn't need rescuing!

"Security has reason to do something now, so I can hand it over to them until it's worn off."

Ryan's upper lip twitches, revealing teeth accompanied by a growl, before his mouth forms a flat line and the sound ceases.

"This wouldn't have anything to do with the note I received from Suzi," he asks flatly, holding out his hand for the wallet.

"You got a what?" . . . jeez. Yes, that has deflated his mood somewhat.

"Get your own," he adds, RE: the wallet. He's more respectful on days when he hasn't been hit over the head with flowerpots.

This is Suzi, frozen because she does not know what to do. Instincts say 'hug and mother and take care of and make the anger go away'. Brain says 'Deitmar bites'.

She ends up going with, "Meep?"

. . . meep?

Unaware that he should be buying Suzi a cookie for heeding her brain's input, Wesker glances back at her. "Suzi. Drinks are on me."

Yes, he's going to be buying pretty much everyone he runs across tonight a drink. Normally he'd save ill-gotten gains, but in this situation? Not.

"Alright." Suzi says, sitting down and tilting her head, "What happened?"

"Suzi," Deitmar says, tone shifting over to something colder. "Notes?"

Tom has not been in the bar much at all since his adventures with amnesia. He's been devoting his time to Door and his family, and he's not been in any hurry to return to the site of his loss of them.

However, the scotch is so bloody good, he can't stay away forever.

Glass in hand, he means to return to the House to finish it, but he spies Deitmar on the way.

"I say, are you quite alright?"

Deitmar tosses the ice pack onto Bar. Bar obligingly makes it go away.

"Pretty well, overall." He nods to the scotch. "Another round? On me."

"Yes, why not?" he says. He's not turning down the scotch. It's never been tainted, so he's not going to be wary.

"I hate to say it, but you don't look well at all."

"No. I was hit over the head with a flowerpot and temporarily imprisoned." He doesn't keep the glass on his tab, either; he pays from a wallet. "It was a nuisance."

After receiving a note about Le Chiffre stalking this particular young man, seeing said particular young man in a slight state of injury does not make Bond feel very good. This being Bond, of course, one would have to be hard pressed to find any of that concern on his face.

But he does approach Deitmar, so that is something.

"Evening."

Deitmar is not his usual observant self, and thus totally misses it. If he hadn't been hung over this morning, he might not have. The ice pack goes away at Bond's approach.

"Evening." His tone says he's not going to try calling it a good one.

"I got a letter from Suzi," he says, leaning on arm against a chair. "Said you've had some problems with a man called Le Chiffre."

The tone of Bond's voice may suggest that he Knows a Thing Or Two about Le Chiffre. (Also he knows a thing or two about speaking French, but that is neither here nor there.)

The twitch of expression at the word letter suggests he knows what's coming. He is not disappointed. Oh, doom.

"Suzi seems to believe the more people involved, the merrier," he says without rancor. "It could be described that way, yes. Security's going to be involved after I find someone on staff."
