He hasn't been back on shore in the days since encountering a new arrival. If anyone asked, Jack wouldn't say he was sulking, either. Brooding, maybe.

The food stores ran low yesterday. (At least there's still plenty of rum.) As a result, Gibbs had gone ashore... and still hasn't returned. Jack's deeply certain that's not good -- not good at ( Read more... )

Kaylee's not having a great week, either.

No word from Peter. No sign of Peter.

No sign of Sylar, either. At least not inside. But she hasn't checked outside yet. Out along the lake -- the Pearl is --

Not gone, just...kind of...away. Further back. And there's not a pier, either.

Kaylee's mouth tightens, a little, and in a few minutes -- when she's closer -- she calls out, "Captain?"

"That's right," he calls out, even as he turns and saunters to the railing.

"Captain Jack Sparrow."

A beat, and a wild, cheerful grin.

"Hello, Kaylee-luv."

Kaylee immediately beams.

(And is a little surprised at how relieved she is.

He still knows her name. Even if he might have forgotten other things --

At least Jack knows who she is.)

"You're all...back there." She waves a hand in his direction.

Not to be outdone, Jack waves both hands back at her.

"And you're all -- over there."

There's someone peeking onto the deck. Possibly a presence now approaching familiarity.

A small shadow, in the air like a cloud of dust, like particles suspended in wanter.

Just checking in, kind of. Because last time the little ghost saw him he was being untied and that whole thing kind of scared Santi.

Hola,

Using the wind to whisper.

Jack stops in his tracks and turns, swaying with the motion of wind or water.

He's grinning.

"Hola, compañerito."

"Is good?"

Faint concern emanating from the figure, now standing just at the edge of the deck.

"Never better."

This is patently a lie, but he says it blithely and manages to look unconcerned.

"Y tu, lad?"

There is the softest flurry of wings, and then Raven is seated on the ship's rail, bare feet swinging idly.

She tilts her head, watching Jack.

"Hiding is easier when you are not for talking, I think."

She is surprised Jack does not already know this.

"Not bloody interested in hiding, luv," Jack retorts instantly.

"More-- pacing, like."

Raven snorts, slipping from the rail to stand next to him.

She kicks him, too.

It is lucky she is made of clay.

"It is not so bad a story, that. Still."

"Hey!"

He hops a step or two away on one foot, rubbing at his shin. Jack glares at her.

"Not sure I deserved that."

Peter strolled on the beach of the lake. He didn't know why there was a pirate ship in the lake, or how that could happen, but there was.

Was that a real pirate.

"Dude you're a Pirate," He shouted and pointed at the man.

The figure on the ship's deck turns around, swaying. Jack eyes him, and calls back,

"And you're a-- you're a--"

A beat.

"you're you, that's what you are!"

"A Sophomore with super powers," he said, "I just don't remember anything, but I have been told my name is Peter!"

Peter laughed.

"What's yours?" he asked.

"The name's Sparrow," Jack informs him. "Captain Jack Sparrow, of the Black Pearl."

He gestures at the ship around him, grinning.

"As you see."

Day early but his mind's become too feral to let him stay indoors.

Could say it's the heat that's getting to him. Or all the people in the bar. Something.

He's pacing the shoreline, with the same attitude of a wild animal, unsure if he wants to make this full moon a four out of three or not.

Back and forth, back and forth. Jack tosses a glance shoreward and eyes the other man with interest.

"You look bloody awful, mate."

"Feel even worse. This time of the month I hate being inside."

Turn and walk. Look up. The sun's setting, the moon is not quite full yet. Tomorrow Lady Luna will be. Tonight there will be no ugly scenes of men turning into beasts.

"Comes with the territory I suppose."

He tips his head back, looking up at the moon, and then looks back at the wizard with sudden interest.

"Thought you were one of the stick-wavers."
