Sheppard has had a long, stressful, man-sized, man-eating bug-filled day. Which would be why, after stepping into Milliways and being mildly surprised at the fact that he's in Milliways yet again, he heads over to the bar and orders a beer ( Read more... )

Charlie doesn't know any songs about bugs.

So he's just playing the guitar randomly as he ambles over and says, "Expecting an infestation, are you?"

"Just dealt with one," he says as he continues to spray. (Breathing in the fumes now surrounding him isn't recommended.) "Or tried to, anyway. Figured I might as well be a little cautious."

"Bleah," says Charlie, backing away a little from the fumes. "How can you stand that? Ergh."

"I've inhaled worse today. And if it keeps more bugs away, I think it's worth it." He finally finishes with the spraying, setting the can beside the Raid. "Speaking of that-you haven't seen any bug monsters around here, have you? About six feet tall, like to try and kill people?"

Sheppard may notice the man that is now hacking and coughing, both hands pressed over his nose and mouth.

Somebody just caught a face full of bug repellent.

Sheppard looks up at the hacking a coughing, raising an eyebrow. "...Yeah, you probably don't want to breathe too deeply around this stuff. Not when it's just been sprayed, anyway."

"Why didn't you do that outside?" Ryan snarls angrily. Or he would if he could, you know, breathe. Instead it comes out all gasped and wheezy. Thoughtfully, Bar provides a handkerchief, which he gratefully snatches up and presses over his nose and mouth.

"I was kinda going with the whole 'be prepared' train of thought." If he's learned anything today, it's that giant bugs can be found inside a hell of a lot more often than outside. "Had a problem with some bugs today."

Marian had come for a spot of tea, but instead she was not making a ghastly face and coughing at the scent of...well, whatever he was doing. Placing a hand over her mouth, she asked, with some concern.

"Are you quite alright?"

"Well, I'm not dead, and any bugs that get near me and probably going to end up dead, so yeah, I'm all right." He pauses. "Speaking of that, you might not want to uh, breathe too deeply. Not right now, anyway. Give it a few minutes to clear."

Marian wasn't quite sure whether that was a dismissal or not, since it was about not breathing or talking. Something quite like it. She was deciding whether he was intentionally offensive or absently strange, but confused over his words won out still. So hand still covering her mouth and nose, she queried.

"Bugs? I haven't seen any bugs in the bar."

"Neither have I, but I'm not taking any chances. See, there was this problem with some bugs where I come from earlier today, and since I know the guy who made them comes here...I figured having some stuff on hand wouldn't hurt."
