The lake's good for things like that. It's also good for random acts of bending practice, which is what Katara is doing at the moment. Stragely reminiscent of their last meeting? Perhaps.
At least Katara is fully clothed this time, even in parka and mittens, bending the snow to her will as she goes through her paces.
It takes Wells a moment to realize why what he's seeing looks familiar. That's how long it's been since the last time he saw waterbending in action. It's no less impressive this time, though, so he stops to watch again.
He's forced to admit- inwardly, at least- that he hadn't even thought of the manipulation of snow as part of the water powers.
Snow, ice, water, heavy steam (maybe? probably.) - it all falls under the catergory of water which makes her bending possibly more versatile than Zuko's. And it's what she's practicing now, making a giant wave in the lake and then having it die down to mere ripples before it reaches the bank by her feet.
Noticing Wells? Maybe a little. But it's been a long time and the sky is cloudy, so she simply smiles to let him know she sees him-- saying nothing of recognition.
Wells nods once in greeting and continues to watch. There's no sense in disturbing someone mid-routine, after all. He's always been a bit out of sorts when that's happened to him during his own workouts. Even if this is considerably more impressive to watch.
