“Be careful,” Luna advises dreamily from the sidelines. “It might bite.”

“I’m sorry,” she says, and she sounds like she means it. “It just happens sometimes.”

"Are you human? It might explain why you're not normal. You could be, I don't know- a ghoul."

Luna brightens.

“I’m a witch… but-” and her face falls again, “-there are quite a lot of us, and they call me Loony sometimes, so that can’t be it.”

"Well- you're obviously not really a witch then- you've got to be something else. Maybe a Banshee." Shock nods sagely.

“My skin isn’t green,” she points out, waving a hand at Shock, “and my hair isn’t black. I’ve never killed anyone with a scream either, though I suppose there’s a first time for everything.

But it was a good idea,” she adds, encouragingly.

"You don't have to be green to be a Banshee. And Banshees don't kill people with their screams, the brain bleeding is what kills them."

Never argue with a stubborn eight-year-old.

“I don’t think so, no.

It could be a government hush-up?”

“They’re the people who run the country, and hush-up all the things they don’t want us to know about.”

She wrinkles her nose disapprovingly.

"Riiight." Shock wrinkles her nose under her mask. "Halloween Town doesn't have a government. We've got a King and a Mayor."

“Do they hush things up?”

"Not really. We don't really care anyway- me and my brothers work for Oog-"

"We work for Jack now."

“I knew a dog called Jack once,” Luna comments cheerfully.
