there and back again

[ooc: post the bar at the end of the quest]

It's a blur at first--flashes of movement like film played too fast, sounds sped up and slowed down. Then like an elevator coming to a stop, they're back.

Charlie, Joe, Broom, David, Svava, Scott, and even Sir Didymus still on his steed.

Back.

Just back, like they'd never left.

broom, david talbot, scott tracy, svava, quest for the landlord, sir didymus, joe manco, charlie pace, shipwreck

Well, maybe not exactly as if they'd never left. Joe's lost his shoes, his hat and his poncho, and this shirt that was new two weeks ago is ready for rag. He looks around the bar and realizes, ok, that's it, for better or worst we're back. Getting the news from upstairs his knees go on strike, and he sinks onto a bar stool, leaning heavily against the bar.

*as he orders a drink from the rat, he gets one for Joe, too, and the rat appears with it a few moments later*

Charlie turns away from the others and goes to a booth in the back of the bar. He takes off his guitar and sits cross-legged in the seat, then takes out the three envelopes. He doesn't seen Moiraine or Bartleby, so he tucks those away again and places his own on the tabletop.

He leans his head on his hand and contemplates the envelope, frowning.

*he sees Charlie walk into the corner, and almost starts towards him, but thinks better of it, leaving him to his privacy.

At least for a while*

Charlie debates holding the corner of the envelope to the candle burning on the table: clearly the answer was "no" and he's not interested in the details.

But he hesitates, and tucks all three letters in the back of the notebook. He sees the letter he had written to Bartleby--the contingency letter, in case he had to explain--and wonders if he should burn that instead.

No. Bartleby needs to see this, too.

His mouth works and he blinks, pinching the bridge of his nose. Be a man. Be a man.

On the whole, he'd rather be a child right now.

David sits, still watching him. Shall I come to you, Charlie? *he asks, although he thinks he knows the answer already*

*Scott inhales deeply. The welcoming murky warmth of the bar has never seemed as comforting as it does at this moment*

*he smiles to the young man and extends his hand* A pleasure, Scott. Thank you for - *he points to his neck* - well, everything.

*he shakes David's hand and grins*

No problem. It's what I do.

Shipwreck looks down at his glass.

Then he looks at the crowd that randomly appeared in the bar.

Then back at the glass.

Then he pours the glass out. Jesus, this place freaked him out sometimes.

Svava glances around, startled for a moment, then leans back against the Bar, laughing softly. She holds up Edielwiess to look at the kitten face to face; the calico just licks her nose.

"Well... we're all back. We'll figure this out. And I almost do wish I could get drunk."

*Scott reaches over and pets Edielwiess, adressing the both of them*

Thanks. For everything.

Svava chuckles, and sets Edielweiss on Scott's shoulder so she can hug him.

"You got your picture back. And thank you for everything too."

*he hugs her back, smiling as the kitten purrs in his ear*

No problem. If you need me for anything else, you come and find me, okay?

*the moment is interrupted as he fails to stifle a yawn*

I guess I'd better get home soon.
