Urza takes a table near the center of the bar, experimentally ordering a Tolarian ale from a passing waitrat. He is more than a little surprised when it is not only delivered, but perfectly aged ( Read more... )

This one...does not look likely. She looks like a blonde twenty-something sitting at a nearby table, with her feet propped up on an empty chair.

Still, she also looks friendly enough, offering a smile and a nod should he glance her way.

The warrior women of Benalia taught Urza never to judge on appearance alone. She has the look of a fighter, the way her eyes dart automatically to check blind spots, the movements that leave her an attack and a defense at all times.

He returns her nod with one of his own, of greeting and appreciation.

"You new around here?"

He doesn't look familiar, but there's plenty of regulars she has yet to meet.

"I am newly arrived, yes. I am Urza."

She doesn't have the Benalish accent, so it should be safe enough to use his real name.

Urza does get...attention. As sudden a focusing as a thunderclap, and just as palpable. Rachel has no issues with magics, they feel like life flows to her...but the baby in her arms is allergic to a certain type, so she has been trying to notice when those life flows start to weave into something stable.

Hence there's a red headed woman staring from a nearby table, flame licking behind the emerald of her eyes as she passes the end of her braid to Elshie to play with.

Urza catches the stare and ducks his head.

"My apologies if I startled you," he says.

"It's alright" Rachel sighed "I'm just a little touchy recently. You're new?" the flame seems to flicker through her hair just before dying away, leaving nothing more than woman and a child.

"New to this place, yes. I was merely taking advantage of the respite to fortify myself. Purely defensive wards, I assure you."

Conan looks over at the man, curious. He walks over. "Ho, there. You're new here, aren't you?"

Now, this one wasn't hard to pick out. This one was a fighter to rival the warlords of Keld. One like that on his side would be worth ten of any Phyrexian warriors.

"I am newly arrived, yes," he replies. "Where do you hail from, if I may ask?"

"Cimmeria, which is in the north of Hyboria. And you?" Conan looks at his odd dress, casually.

Urza shakes his head in slight disbelief. So many planes, so many worlds. No matter how many he visits, more always stretch out before him. He wonders if it is possible, even for a planeswalker, to ever see them all.

"Originally from Terisiare, in the plane of Dominaria. I am Urza."

There's a slim young man- pale of face, dark of hair and darker of eyes- nearby with his dinner, a silver sword leaning against the nearest chair. Had Urza seen him enter from the lake a few minutes ago, he would have seen that Sam moves with a silent, easy grace of a fighter.

But he's also a curious boy who can feel the magic flowing, and so he eventually turns round.

"Another magic-worker, I take it? Not that this place is exactly short of us, admittedly."

"So I have noticed," Urza says with a nod of greeting. "Such a thing is all to the good. Or so I hope."

Sam nods back, one eyebrow slightly raised. "Oh? How come?"

"I am searching for powerful will-workers and able fighters to join my battle-weary army against a foe that wishes to destroy my world."
