Happy Hour

Indy was pretty drunk when he left Lilly at the wedding reception in Tortall and returned to the bar. The relatively simple task of removing his tunic, boots and leggings turned into a long and arduous event—a battle royale in which victory very nearly went to the hose. However, doggedness eventually won through over malcoordination, and the ( Read more... )

A cloaked figure walks up to the bar and sits down at a stool. As he looks over the drinks list he reaches up and pulls the cowl off of his head. His violet eyes shining, he brushes the white hair out of his eyes and tucks it behind his pointed elven ears.

Veronica - remaining as short on necessary description as the average small, skinny white girl - approaches from further down the bar, brushing her hands as she goes.

"Can I get you a drink?"

"White wine if you please miss?"

There is a questioning tone to his voice and a fire of excitement in his voice.

"Sure. Not picky about the brand?" she asks, as she moves along the row of bottles.

"Can I get,"

Says the woman at the bar (doesn't she have a nice tail? She thinks its a nice tail),

"a Fox River Cocktail?"

"You can indeed," the rugged male bartender replies. Ingredients are mixed, stirred and strained into a cocktail glass.

It's only when he returns to serve the drink that he notices her tail.

"Oh. Heh. I get it now," he chuckles. "Hi. I'm Indy."

"Do you?"

Innocent smile. Really! She bats her lashes and lets her tails (two of them, now) curl around her ankles (also two),

"Hi, I'm the Honorable Lady Ako."

"Please to meet ya."

He's watching the tails with amusement.

"How many more of those've you got hidden away?"

Wells squints at the specials list. "Bit fancy for my liking, but if either of you can do a halfway decent Black and Tan, I'll take one of those," he says.

"Absolutely."

This is probably Veronica's first real test, but Indy's taught her well since the other day's mishap. She pours carefully, her spoon technique a bit shaky but getting better.

Passing it over, she says, "Taadaa."

That gets a grin. "Thanks, miss," Wells says. "Don't believe I've seen you around before. New hire, are you?"

"That's one way of saying it."

She leans forwards a little, voice conspiratorial. "I'm here to keep Indy from getting lonely."

"The last time I had one of your drinks, Indy," Ace informs him soberly, "I think I started singin' at Meg. An' I don't know as it was even chocolate alcohol. I find this tragic."

"I think the tragic thing was that I wasn't there to witness it," Indy remarks without turning around. "Then again, I've no problem taking all the credit for making a drink that y'felt the need to sing the praises of."

"... I don't think I was singin' 'bout the drink. Because of the drink, most assuredly." Since Indy does not deign to turn around to talk to the poor pyro, he deserves the wadded-up cocktail napkin she tosses at his head.

The only reason he hadn't turned around was because he was making her an extra special drink! Which he now places before her with a flourish.

"Well, maybe this one'll do even better things," he says grandly.

It looks like a dark smoothie-mix, served in a parfait glass.

River drifts over, peering intently at something on the back wall.

Possibly one of the many, many bottles of alcohol there. Possibly not.

After a glance in her direction of gaze, Indy strolls down the bar.

"Hey, River. Can I get y'something?"

River glances at him a few seconds too late for normalcy, looking surprised and a little confused by the question. It's a moment before her face clears.

"Yes," she says, very seriously.

He leans his head over and smiles.

"Drink? Food? Pleasant company and conversation? Or some combination thereof?"
