And the wolf has him curious - he smiles, lighting a cigarette and turning on his stool.

The look he shares with his wife is strange; pained and tired and yet, with the knowledge that whatever had caused it was over.
"At least, not together anyway."
He leans down and scoops up Wolf in one hand before putting him next to him on the bench of the booth.
"And never with Wolf. It's his first time here."

"Wolf needs to meet Jason soon."

And he runs a hand over Geran's hair.

"So does Geran, really, it's been too long for him to remember."

"There are a lot of people who have to meet them both. And a few who'll be glad to see them again."

"None moreso than us."
She hugs Geran tightly and covers him with kisses, tickling a little to hear him laugh.

"Grandfather's going to give me trouble over that. The scritching. He's his own wolf."
But then he doesn't care because he's watching Ce'Nedra with Geran and absolutely melting.

She drops a kiss onto Wolf's head and feeds him another piece of fish.

"Yes, dear. But you get to tell him that."

"Don't think that I won't!"

"I didn't think you wouldn't."
And the grammar of that sentence hurts somewhere.
"I just don't want to be the one who has to tell him."

"Men."
And then goes back to playing with and feeding her boys. It makes her inordinately happy.

"You're a wonderful mother," he feels the need to tell her.
