Lee's acquired a set of clean clothes - though he hasn't disposed of the old set, just yet - and a room for himself and Hester.

Right now, they're outside, checking out the lake area and trying to decide if there's enough space to be worth getting a balloon.

Knox has roamed outside. It's not raining. That alone is worthy of note. He sees what seems to be some kind of cowboy.

"Good afternoon."

Lee glances up and nods to him, touching his hat in greeting.

"Afternoon."

"Nice day, huh? It's been raining for like three weeks at home. And winter's about to start." Everybody talks about the weather, including Knox.

"Yeah. Seems we got here just in time to see the spring."

Shockingly, there's another man outside, sitting by the lakeside enjoying a cigarette. The smoke drifts lazily from his mouth in a thin cloud and he whistles low to himself, some old cowboy song.

Still hasn't found his goddam harmonica.

Some things cross between worlds. The song's familiar, from Lee's childhood.

He nods to Jack, amicably enough.

Jack's eye being caught, he looks over and nods back.

"Afternoon. Fine day, ain't it?"

It isn't quite Texas--there's still more of a Wyoming drawl than Texas sharpness in Jack's accent, but more than songs cross between worlds, that's for certain.

"You lookin' for somethin' in particular, friend?"

It's pleasant enough outside, and it's not as if writing the Mass will progress any further tonight. So Salieri takes himself for a walk around the lake, sheaf of music under one arm.

Up ahead's a man, and he's closer to Salieri's age than most he's seen in the bar.

"A pleasant day, is it not, signor?"

"Mighty nice", Lee agrees, tipping his hat to the newcomer. "Spring, an' all."

Salieri has no hat to tip, but he inclines his head to the other man.

"It's winter where I come from, and proving to be a cold one at that. The benefits of taking walks on another world, I suppose."

"It was storming, when I came in", he observes. "Storm an' smoke... good to see the open sky again."

Because the dead need to mingle more, Mordred is at his table, sharpening his knife and sword.

When they come inside, it being too dark to see properly any more, Lee nods a polite greeting to Mordred as they pass his table.

He nods a greeting back, and then eyes the hare curiously.

She eyes him right back, eyes bright and intelligent.
