There were not supposed to be walls in the middle of a field. Tom was not the finest of scholars, no, not even one of the finest. Not even one of the finest in Somersetshire ( Read more... )

Wendy sits on the floor, leaning against a booth nearby the door.

Another little kid...jeez. You would think there enough of them. I don't look up at him, I can tell by the high pitched voice. So, yeah. I don't pause for more than a second before inhaling again.

"I doubt you'll find him."

Exhale. I have no idea who the guy is, I just know that looking for one person in this place is impossible because there's tons of freaks here, including myself.

He blinks, because a lady didn't smoke or if she did so indulge, did so in the privacy of her rooms... and neither did she dress as this young woman was dressed.

"Ma'am," he fumbles somewhat, bowing a little awkwardly. It was usually he who forgot introductions, forgot manners, but her lack of them seemed almost to prompt them in him if only because he was lost and confused.

I still don't look up, despite a response. Actually, I am quite fixated by the small pile of ashes beside me......I'll sweep em' up later.

"Yeah?"

Another blink.

"Would you... that is, ma'am, I-"

And he's somewhat flustered. He's not used to being the least polite person in a conversation. George was one thing, but this was quite another.

Though she's not in the bar all that often, every now and then Snow does make time for her old routine as unofficial greeter. She approaches with a comforting smile.

"Welcome to Milliways."

He bows carefully and tips his hat.

"Ma'am."

Then what she had said filters though his mind and the confusion, quite obviously, sets in.

"Ma'am?"

Snow smiles at him. Manners are very welcome, considering the tempers of some new arrivals.

"Milliways is the restaurant at the end of the universe. The door tends to open here from seemingly random places. To put it simply, where you were is not where you are."

"Then..." and he struggles with the concept. He's never been anywhere but Somersetshire. "Then I am no longer in Somersetshire then, ma'am?"
