*Andrew and Meg come down the stairs, talking animatedly. He's carrying an empty bowl with a few unpopped popcorn kernels rattling around in it; she's carrying a couple of empty glasses.*

-- trust me, it picks right up at the beginning of the second one.

A freshly showered and clean-clothinged Wells turns up shortly thereafter, down those selfsame stairs. "'lo there, Andrew, Meg," he calls with a wave.

*Andrew waves back.* Hi, Cousin Harry!

Salut! *Meg adds, with a grin, that possibly turns into a giggle at 'cousin Harry'.* How're you doing?

Wells grins, and waves back. "All right, I reckon," he says. "I've about got things in order by now, actually- there's still a few more matters I've got to settle before I try the door, but I'm pretty fuckin' close. Yourselves?"

*Meg is looking rather sulky.*

Even the Ring Saga wasn't as cliffhanger-y as that, *she complains.*

- though it was about as long.

The books are even longer. There's all kinds of stuff they didn't have time to put in.

I'm not surprised, *says Meg, sagely - she is, after all, used to Victor Hugo.*

I mean, authors do get paid by the word, so they put in all kinds of extra things - Les Miserables has an extra forty pages about the sewer system. So the original book probably has, I don't know, three chapters on the composition of limestone in the mines of Moria -

Uh ... I don't think Tolkien got paid by the word. He was just, you know, a professor. So there's a lot about the histories of Bree and Rivendell, and stuff -- but there's also actual plot they didn't include. There's this one encounter they have in the Old Forest between the Shire and Bree with a character called Tom Bombadil, and his part was just cut completely for length.

*Andrew may sound a bit sulky about this.*

"Andrew!"

And there is a masked man.

"Hiya."

He beams with pride..

"It worked. Amazingly."

*Andrew's face has gone just a little fixed.*

Good for you.

Hobbit at the bar.

With way too much food.

Even he can't eat all of that at one go. Seriously.

*Meg raises her hand in a bright wave to the hobbit, and tries not to feel guilty - he had, after all, given her permission.*

Hey, Smeagol - what, are you stocking up for a famine or something? *she adds, with a grin.*

Smeagol looks at Meg, bloodshot eyes suddenly wider with fright. He edges away from her, dropping cans.

"It - no, it's for . . . blizzards. For blizzards. In case."

It doesn't help that his hands are shaking.

Mary's smile fades, as she takes in his state.

". . . well, we had one, but it should be gone pretty soon," she says, reassuringly. "And it's going to be spring now, I think -"

Mordred has, oddly enough, never met Andrew (blame the timezones). However, as both he and Meg agree that the snarky brat of a prince probably should meet her boyfriend at some point, there is a Mordred in the bar.

Perfectly ignorable should timezones be too much of a bitch.

Salut, Mordred!

*Meg raises her hand high in an enthusiastic wave.*

*Andrew glances at her, and follows her gaze to the young man she's waving at.*

Mordred glances up, his golden eyes sharp for a moment. Seeing Meg, he grins.

"Salut, Meg and..." He glances at Andrew, curiously.
