It's the bickering that draws the attention of a young girl at the bar with her cup of hot tea. She blinks slowly, curiously, watching the two of them bicker over some kind of a card game.

Val looks up from the game, and smiles at the girl, beckoning her over. "Hey, c'mon over. Mark doesn't bite. He's just stressed."

Mark grumbles a bit, falling silent as he takes a few drinks of a beer.

She's still hesitant, but she was invited over, so she stands to her feet and walks slowly over. She bows in greeting, hands folded in front of her.

Val smiles at her, waving a hand at one of the unoccupied seats. "Hey. Have a seat, dear. I'm Valentine. The grumpy one's Mark."

Mark nods to the girl, then excuses himself to get another drink.

Val smiles. "Seriously, don't mind him. He's got a lot of things on his mind lately. He's usually nice."

Wes watches them for a moment, trying very hard not to choke with laughter.

It's an admirable effort.

Then he drops into a seat, sets a DVD box set on the table, shifts the stuffed bantha to sit on top of it, and peers at Mark and Val.

"Let me guess -- this guy--" Pointing to the bantha. "--was winning."

"Hey, man. I was holding my own for a good long while there, until she pulled a new rule on me in the middle of the damn game!" Mark's a bit adamant about this.

"In other words, Wes, yes, the stuffed Bantha's winning." Val grins, a sparkly, mischivious smile. "You think you can do better than the Bantha?" She's eying the DVDs, but doesn't say anything yet.

"Mark, I really, really don't want to see you try and play in a real cantina," Wes says, snickering. "The rules do change."

He grins at Val and spreads his hands. "Well, I imagine it'll be tough to beat, but I think I can give it a go."

"Oh, Angel, you have to help me out here. Mark's grumpy and testy. AndI'm trying to get him to relax." Val facepalms. "Have a seat if you want. Mind the Bantha."

Mark eyes Val for a moment, shaking his head. "It's not all that bad, Angel. In fact, it would be just fine, if she didn't keep changing the rules on me." He pauses, not even commenting on his stress or lack thereof.

Angel sits down, moving the toy out of the way, and raises an eyebrow.
"No, wait, don't tell me. Osrics stuff's getting to you, probably along with school, and she's trying to get you to relax."
Just a shot in the dark, you understand.

For ease of mun's sanity, Mark is off in a quest for more alcoholic beverage.

Val looks up and grins at Michael. "Hey, Michael. How're you? What's been up with you?"

"Ah, not bad. Things have quieted down some at home, at least."

"That's good. Anything in particular been going down?" Val looks a bit sheepish. "I'm, er, sorry that I haven't been around a bunch."
