Kate comes downstairs and approaches the Bar, looking tired and a little worn. Her hair is pleated, her typical cowboy hat left upstairs

She eyes his be-goggled noggin, choking back a chortle. Fussing with the elastic in her own pair, it takes a minute before she follows his lead and slips the goggles over her eyes.
She looks at him, eyes appearing larger than normal through the lenses.
If he was planning any such shenanigans, today would be the day to do it. Kate has a wild streak on the best of days, but on her Milliversary? She's feeling downright reckless.
Her mouth twists.
"Ready as I'll ever be, anyhow. Y'gonna bring that along?"
She gestures to the bottle he snatched earlier.
"I might need it t'calm my nerves after."
[ooc: ~flails~ So sorry for slowness! LJ's been down completely for days on my end. :( ]
Her lips twitch, but she answers him with the gravest solemnity.
"Thank you. I'll bear that in mind."
She nods toward the back door and starts moving in that direction, resigned to leaving the bourbon for later. There'll be plenty of time once her feet are back on the ground.
"It wasn't for me. My first time flying - My dad, uhm - He took me up," Scorpius says as the pair of them head outdoors.
"And it was brilliant. You can see so far and you'd think it'd make you feel incredibly small, and you do, but you're also reminded of how big the world is, what you can see, and what you can do. And when you're actually flying, the broom just - It sings to you."
Well. They sing to him, anyway.
He stops when they've walked as far as they need to. Which isn't very far at all. A broom isn't like a plane, needing a runway.
"It's, uhm - " He shrugs, his face pink, and he checks his goggles. "It's brilliant."
For all her tenseness - the tightness in her shoulders, the set of her jaw, the way her gaze seems sharper than usual - she visibly softens as he speaks. A smile, small and sincere, ghosts the corners of her mouth.
"Sounds like my first time ridin'."
And that's one memory she's all too happy to entertain tonight.
"I wouldn't ever accuse Beaut of singin' t'me," she teases; "but I can feel the beat of the whole world in my body when we're flyin'. I stretch my arms out an' let the wind lick my face, an' I feel all at once connected t'everythin' an' a million miles away. It's the most ... delicious freedom."
"Maybe you'll have to take me riding after this," Scorpius says as he mounts the broom.
He offers a hand to Kate, though it isn't like climbing up onto a saddle; the broom isn't very high from the ground. All she'd have to do is swing a leg over the handle to join him.
"And, oh! Maybe we should try to find a couple of pegasi sometime. For a proper comparison."
She truly would. She's taken several of her friends horseback riding in her time here at Milliways, and she never tires of it. On the contrary, it's exciting being able to share the things she loves with her friends.
She takes the offered hand and shoots him a speculative look, but manages to mount the broomstick with little to no laughter. She feels a little ridiculous.
"Y'know, we used t'have a pair of pegasi here. Not anymore; they've gone to Miss Medusa's world. Not sure where else we'll find them, though. Not in my Texas."
He then quickly grabs the bottle of bourbon before she can touch it.
"Flight first, drinking after. Bar, could I borrow a Tinderblast?"
The broom appears on the counter as requested.

He grins at her as soon as he's put them on atop his head, looking every bit ready for an expedition as he grabs hold of the broom once again.
"Ready?"

"How do I look?"

Maybe not quite Quidditch-playing ready. But for a good leisurely flight?
He promises not to do any nose dives toward the ground.

He doesn't need her sneaking any sips mid-flight.
If she got sick -
Well.
"Listen, uhm - If you're scared, I won't fly very high or practice any mad maneuvers. And if you want ground, all you've got to do is say so."

"Is it very frightenin' your first time up?"

Which isn't, of course, a no.
