As far as Harry Wells is concerned, Kadija, Takiyah, Winona, and Carmen are ready for the final test. The Council seems to agree; the big testing starts tomorrow, and'll run three or four days with his luck. He's been preparing for this for a long time, nearly as much as the girls have

"Hey, Sarge."

It's Kennedy, loping up alongside him. She's in a heavy sweatshirt and pants, but that's her only concession to the cold; her head's bare, and she's not wearing gloves or a scarf.

Wells glances sideways and smiles a little. "Hallo, Kennedy," he says. "Not ready for down-time either, eh?"

He's not that fussed about cold himself, but then he never really was. It made the Gulf War interesting, to say the least.

"Not so much. Waiting on my next assignment."

Kennedy trains with his class when she's around, but she's been back and forth between the Slayers' Academy and the field for some time now. She falls into step beside him, hands in her pockets.

"Heard they might be sending me to Paris. You know anything about that?"

Wells thinks for a bit, scratching his jaw. "I'd ask Philippus if I were you, frankly," he says. "Been spending more time between here and Yorkshire than usual. I haven't had a chance to keep my ear properly to the floor around here. Sorry about that." Pause. "D'you even speak French?"
