The Park - Saturday Afternoon

It was way too nice of a day to spend indoors. Especially with a hyperactive six year old.

So Veronica, Lilly and Dick headed over to the park.

"I call not it on playing any games involving sand," Dick said to Veronica. He was not about to be the one pouring sand out of his socks later. "Totally called it first."

Veronica rolled her eyes. "I think Lilly is big enough to play in the sandbox alone."

"Daddy, push me on the swings!" Lilly insisted.

"Swings I can do," Dick said. "Just none of that jumping off the swing stuff this time."

He had a minor heart attack every time that happened.

Ignore the fact that had been one of his favorite things to do as a kid.

"Gee, I wonder where she learned that trick?" Veronica asked, giving Dick a pointed look.

Rube was relieved to see that there were no sheep in the park today. He settled onto a bench with the vague idea to see if he could decipher this whole Sudoku fad.

And if he happened to glance up occasionally to watch the happy family he would in no way admit to any wistfulness in his expression or thoughts.
