I was packed for Confest the night before I left, and planned to head for it at 9am, after half a day's work. (My workday starts at 5am, coinciding with 10am in California.) But stuff blew up at work, so I didn't actually get on the road until 2pm, and I had a few errands to run. So it was 2am by the time we finally pulled ( Read more... )

So of course I have a probably typical American response. The first one is what a pain in the ass. The second one how cool is that , that you know how to co exist with an actual Kangaroo in its natural habitat. I thought it was cool to the the Kangaroo can travel 40km. wow that seems impressive to me. And thank you for sharing your travel stories. I notice when I read them it helps me feel like you are a little less far away.Hugs T

Yep, not so far away... if 40k Kanga had turned around and could hop continuously on water, he'd've made it to your place within a fortnight. =)

Man, the kangaroo story is cool. The most bizarre, stuck-behind-giant-animals story I've heard from the USA is from a friend of mine who went on a geology field trip or something like that, and at one point the bus had to stop because a herd of buffalo had just wandered out and relaxed on the road. We have buffalo in Lincoln, in the actual city I live in, inside an enclosure at one of the big parks. Part of the wildlife tour. I've been face to face with one, even if there was a fence between us. Never seen a live kangaroo up close though. I've gotta visit Australia.
