A friend posted a link to an article announcing that everythinglinux.com.au, which appears to be down at the moment, has been bought out. That business was founded and owned by Anthony, my friend who died a couple of months ago.

I'm happy to see that his legacy is being carried on, but I feel rather bewildered. I suppose it's a reminder of

On a random note, Anthony and I were at boarding school together (him a year below me), but I never knew he'd done so well for himself until I heard the sad news. He was one of the kids of our generation who was waiting for the internet/open source revolution to come along, looking back. Sad to hear how it all ended for him, but I'm glad he found his place in the world.

Yeah. He had it tougher in life than I have, at least as an adult (and I hope my good fortune continues) but I admire him for the difference he's made.

I did most of my work for him back in February 2003, that crazy time when I'd just moved back to Sydney from Amsterdam and was intending to stay, but then an opportunity came up in Malaysia. It was really hectic, but definitely the most fun retail environment I've ever worked in.
