Seattle 2

Right now I'm doing the reverse of the trip into Seattle. One of the first things I saw on my way in last Monday was the world-famous Tacoma Narrows Bridge. Haven't heard of it? I'll bet you have-maybe this video will jog your memory. ( Photo of the new one... )

That's eerie... I was just at Cal Anderson Park (where the fountain is) on Saturday. You're in my neck of the woods! Hi. :)

Hmmm... Google Maps calls it all Bobby Morris, so that's the name I've gone with, although Yahoo Maps indeed calls it Cal Anderson Park. Maybe the playground and reservoir is named after the former but the park itself after the latter?

Nice to have you reading along. I was never 100% sure; you're the one who helped out with sound at kineticphoenix and riseorbleed's wedding, right?

I am indeed. :)

I've been reading along for a little while now, but I rarely comment on people's posts, largely because I barely have the time to even keep up with reading most days. (What can I say? It's a life.) Seeing you post a photo of a landmark I actually visited over the weekend, though, demanded reply. ;)

In re: Cal Anderson/Bobby Morris, you have exactly the right of it. Why exactly that is, I have no idea. It's one of the many Curious Mysteries of Seattle™...

Actually, it really should, especially since you and I both live in earthquake country. =) If it didn't, it'd be brittle, and those towers would've come down as well as the deck, and many more buildings and bridges would fall down in events like Loma Prieta. Still, I'd probably be better off as scared about these things; my natural fear of these things is overridden by the engineering geek in me, fascinated by the way structures fail and the way authorities and communities react. This is probably why I live in San Francisco. (I'm still pissed off I slept through the Kobe 'quake in 1995.)

So forgive me if this is a stupid or offensive question (ADD and prosopagnosia and all that), but have we met? I enjoyed looking at your flickr page; it seems you do quality over quantity (unlike me) and the results are beautiful.

Oh, cool! I do vaguely remember, and I hope you had fun. And since nothing got stolen ;) I've added you to my party invitees filter, so hopefully we'll have you along at some future event. (It's about time we plan one, come to think of it...)
