Well, naturally, I am going to suggest coming out here if you can. I'd love love love to see you again, although you may find yourself being dragged out to the middle of a forest for solstice celebrations if the timing is right for that. ^ ^ Which, I am sure, you would completely and utterly despise :P
Litha in the forest sounds fantastic!! Please tell me more!
My parents live in Sydney, where I grew up.
I sent you an SMS the other day, asking if I could call you. Is your number still the one that ends with 6368? If I also had a land line number for you, we could have a long old chat some time. =)
hmm not receiving of the sms - correct number thought. You can call me anytime you like of course and I'll email you my landline number.
Heading to New Zealand on Thursday, for nearly two weeks, my first official time out of the country *SO Excited**
The forest is likely to be in the Channon - kind of above Nimbin and inland from Byron. There may well be new years fun there as well as friends of mine have just moved down there. Nothing is set in stone as yet, although where ever we are for the actual date is most definately and positively going to be in the trees.
I can empathise with this, my mother is 77 and while I only saw her last year I want to spend as much time with her while I still can (and gently nudge her about sorting out her affairs as my brother is both mentally ill and has developmental problems so won't be able to sort out stuff himself one she goes). However, we have no money, and while Mum's been able to put a bit aside, with the Aussie dollar being about $2.50 to the £, I really don't want to take a chunk out of her savings.
What an awkward situation! I sympathise with you, too. And your mum's the same age as my dad, which I find surprising, since I thought you were younger than me, and my parents were pretty old when they had me.
I'm realising how nice it is for trips like this to be even possible for me, even though they cost a lot. I've been leaning pretty heavily towards taking advantage of it now that it's still possible.
I understand that it is pretty expensive to come back here but if you do make it I,d love to catch up with you again. If not I will catch you on your next trip to europe.
Wow, that's even more incentive for me to go down there! I'd hate to miss you!
I've actually fantasised about going on some kind of a retreat with the Sydney poly crowd, similar to what we used to do with the bi group... sharing the rental of a small cottage up the coast somewhere, relaxing, treks to the beach, hanging out. I've been meaning to e-mail you and Craig and Niko and Rrrob and lunatravels to see if it's even remotely possible...

That's what parents are for, Mik, and we'd all love to see you here again this year ;-)
We even rented a house by the beach, just in case you might have been able to make it *cough*
Cheers,
BradZ.
