Emerson, Lake & Palmer could've actually been a really good band if hadn't been for Emerson ruining perfectly good bass-drums-vocal tracks by going *bleeee* *nyerp* *boing* over them in the wrong key for no readily appreciable reason ( Read more... )

Really? You wouldn't consider Fragile or Close to the Edge among their best records?

What I've heard of Close to the Edge has been spectacularly awful, I'm afraid. Exhibit A against prog in general. I'm not familiar with Fragile.

A peek at Wikipedia does however tell me that Wakeman's only contribution of material to Fragile was a rearrangement of Brahms.
