Heh, you know, at first I was all whining and "Nooo, I wanted more 'Too Good to be True'!", but then I went and read this... and now I'm all "...Dammit, it's good. Now I can't complain." *sheepish grin*

I don't read much in the way of Hyoutei fics, 'cause, well. *cough* Ryoma owns my soul. *sweatdrop* But I like your work, so I went "eh, what the hell" and read it anyway. And I like it. ^^' Which means I'll probably end up reading the rest of your Silver Pair fics too.

...If I start totally fangirling over this pairing, it's soooo going to be *all* you fault. *snickers*

Whoooo, pairing conversion! I have to admit I've never seen the appeal of Ryouma - Kaidou and Kikumaru own me as far as Seigaku goes. But it's Hyoutei where my true love lies. *looks at the four muses playing doubles on the mental tennis courts* Yeah. Katsuno wa Hyoutei!

I have to admit I've never seen the appeal of Ryouma - Kaidou and Kikumaru own me as far as Seigaku goes.

He's such a snarky little brat, I can't help but love him. *sheepish grin* But I've been known to like worse. (Point in case, Xelloss from Slayers. He's annoying as all get out when you first meet him in the anime, is very much on no one's side but his own... and he's *so* much worse from what I've read in the novels. He couldn't care less about the lives of innocents as long as he gets what he wants. Anyone who gets in his way tends to be mowed down.)

Xelloss! No, no, but Xell is FUN! Especially when he starts in on Zelgadis. And Lina. And Goury. And... well, he's just FUN! He's not SUPPOSED to care about the lives of innocents, he's a demon. Ryouma's just a brat. ;p I don't mind him as much as some people seem to, but I'll never write him.

That was beautifully written. You definitely captured the determination of Shishido, and I like that Ohtori isn't just a weak, shy yes-boy like some people portray him.

My Ohtori will NEVER be a weak, shy yes-boy. I can see where people get the idea from, but it's just... yeah. I'm sorry, no 'weak, shy yes-boy' would EVER be able to make it to the Regulars of a cut throat school like Hyoutei in his second year. Ohtori is a lot stronger than people give him credit for.

Exactly. It's so easy to fall into character stereotypes. Which is why I've been loving hamburgerjack's stories lately. She's been blowing the stereotypes wide open. :)
I guess the trick is finding the balance between the aspects of a character outside of the stereotype, and what's actually out of character. I think you've done a great job, though.

I loved this fic. You really managed to get across the gradual change in Ohtori's impression of Shishido, and I think Shishido's characterization and motivations were dead on. ^_^

Thank you! I'm glad it worked out well. I'd been itching to do this scene for a while, even though I know it's been done to death in SP fandom. It's such a pivotal moment for them.

XD This was awesome! So totally worth reading, however lengthy! Not that I'm complaining of the length mind you, just totally loved it! You're an awesome writer! Love your 'Taroh~! XD He's so evil underneath all that fluff! Love it!

...lengthy? *tiiiiilts* This is the shortest thing I've written in... at least half a year. Usually I'm lucky if I can keep things to just one LJ post.

XD; It's lengthy to me...I read lots of short stuff. I think the longest thing I've written, myself, was 628 words, and most of that was vows.

Wow, just, wow. That was so good. I haven't been reading a lot of Silver Pair fics lately, and man if this didn't smack it right back into my head (though not as hard as Shishido's) how much I love this pairing.

Very sweet, I really liked it!

I'm glad you liked it! It's always nice to find something good in a fandom you've drifted away from, isn't it? To remind you why you loved the characters in the first place. ^_^ Writing this was a bit like that for me... it's been so long since I'd written this pairing, I'd forgotten just how much I love the dynamic between them.
