LJ Idol Season 11: Resolution

Sep 24, 2019 22:08

It's easy to make a resolution, to say you're going to change something. It's much harder to actually do it. I had resolved to go back to school, get my psychology degree, and become a therapist. I applied to and was accepted into my college of choice, and I was SO excited about the classes. Everything was going great ( Read more... )

If this is what you want to do, then I say go for it. The one thing I learned from working as a psych graduate was that at the end of the day, the school the degree comes from matters less than they tell you it will when you are at school. If this is something you want to do, finding other paths to it will give you just as much satisfaction.

Best of luck to you ♡

Thank you! I am hoping that I can find a path into what I want somehow. I just need to find that opening.

Wow, can they -do- that? Isn't that somehow discrimination?

It took me a long time to go to school. Even though I'm in my mid-thirties, I only just graduated so school (and the decision to choose to go and how much you have to do to get there and get it done) is still fresh on my mind. Congrats on your choice to go. I just got my first post-college job just a little over a month ago. Still a newbie. :) Feels great to have a dream come to fruition. I'm also disabled and holeeeee crap, sometimes it took some serious resolve. It'll all be worth it, whatever works for you in the end, I'm sure you'll feel it was n...n

They didn't SAY "you're disabled" on the denial. Just labeled me high risk. But I know that means "high risk of not repaying" and the only reason they could POSSIBLY think that would be my disability. My credit is not fabulous but it's not bad, either. (Last time I looked, I was in the 600s) So...

I believe it will be! I am going to work on finding some online classes I can take and see where it goes.

I agree about following your heart! I really relate to the resolve you talked about here too because I have my heart set on doing certain things that are going to take time and money etc that I don't have but I am determined and won't give up! I'm sending you all the luck and good vibes. I believe in you!

This was really relatable. I want to do the same thing - go back to university, study psychology, become a therapist but there is no way I can afford it.

I really hope you get to live out your dream.
