I made another bag, with a different stitch pattern for the mesh. I hope this one will be less downward-stretchy than the first one was; if it's not, no big deal as I've got lots more cotton yarn. :)
Woo. Let me know which one works best for you so I can pirate the idea and make my own. Sounds like a great use for leftover yarn, and I've been lazy about fixing the stream of disposable grocery bags coming into my home.
I haven't taken pictures of any of my projects. I suck. One of these days....
I'm using plain old cotton, mainly rescued from the thrift store. I got rid of most of my acrylic because I had Intentions but never got around to using it. Somewhere I have a picture of all the yarn I gave away-- it was a lot!
I've found that these bags are pretty good portable projects, because they're pretty compactable. I worked on these two while we were driving around with my cousin, as well as in various waiting rooms. Someone at Planned Parenthood struck up a conversation about it; folks at the Honda shop mostly just looked the other way.
I'm planning to make as many as I have yarn for. Whenever I'm done, I'll probably post about the advantages and disadvantages of various mesh patterns.
