300 Favourite Movies: 5: X-Men: First Class
Because the friendship of Charles Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr had to be told, and it had to be told through James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender. I really enjoyed the casting in this film. Beyond that, even when you take into consideration the inconsistencies when comparing the movie to the comics, you can't help but admit that the story and the execution was splendidly done. There are some memorable moments in this film, and they all somehow revolve around pre-Magneto's killing spree. I love superhero movies that explore the characters and their choices, and this definitely did. Not to mention the chemistry between the two was impeccable!
