A couple of things happened in synchronicity for me: I went to New York City, and Garbage released a new album (Not Your Kind Of People, fantastic as usual, do go purchase it).  One of the songs is "Man On A Wire", supposedly inspired by Philippe Petit's 1974 tightrope walk between the Twin Towers - the "artistic crime of the century".

I saw this film just before the oscars and cheered so loudly when they won (and balanced it on his chin)

It really is a beautiful film. My copy had no french subtitles, though. :P

Yes! Really, every Oscar show would be so much better if they had a magician pop onstage and do something amazing and unexpected. I'd much rather have that than Billy Crystal singing. :P

No subtitles in English for the French parts, do you mean?
