Beep!

Our next door neighbors were robbed while they were home (yeesh) some time in the morning the day before Easter. Grabbed valuables AND stole their car. In general, we live in a really safe neighborhood and since Rob and I live on the very top floor, we're not an easy target. But better safe than sorry, so Rob's coming home early to be there for ( Read more... )

Wow are you kidding? That's absolutely horrible! I hope they were not hurt? Your are is SO nice, some one must have been targeting it specifically, maybe hoping people would be away for the holidays. I think its a great idea to get a system, even just for the peace of mind it brings. I agree, that even the sticker can be deterrent, I mean like you say, why go for the house with the alarm and risk it?
Jun and I have slept so much better since we got ours for the same reason. Why go for the unit on the bottom floor with the security system when there are a bunch without? We don't even turn it on that much, but its still nice to have and the cost is rather minimal compared to the benefit. Plus if you guys ever go on vacation you can be a bit more relaxed.

They were all asleep, I imagine in the back of the house. It's a nice lesbian couple and some kids, so thankfully they're all ok. It's just really unfortunate.

It's because the neighborhood is so nice that people don't even consider robbery a possibility and don't have alarms. I always get nervous about being out for long periods of time and especially leaving the house on holidays like xmas or thanksgiving. Rob's aunt was robbed on Thanksgiving day not too long ago!

Yea, I hear you are really paying for the decal!

Glad to hear no one was harmed!

If you guys want I would be happy to let you scan our alarm decals etc. if you even want something to just stick in your front door. :)

:( I know, so sad. But at least the neighborhood is on high alert now. One good thing about having a close knit community is that we are looking out for each other.

That's so scary! To be robbed is bad enough, but to be home for it must be terrifying, even if you're unaware at the time. You just feel violated. Home is where you should be safe! :(

I've been thinking of installing an alarm, but mostly because of the fire protection. Ever since we had a fire like, eight years ago, I've been absolutely paranoid. Luckily we were home, and all the pets got out okay. I refuse to even think what would have happened otherwise. I'm so afraid of something happening to my furry children while I'm not there.

Considering Rob's house burned down when he was little kid, you'd think he'd be worried about it. Honestly, it doesn't seem like it affected him much at all.

It does bring down your insurance! Maybe not more than 10%, but hey, better than nothing!

Down the street from me, there's been a history of robberies (a friend's mom once chased one down the street even), but not in my court thankfully. Good thing no one got hurt.

That's pretty scary!

What alarm company did you get? We've been thinking of installing one as well.
We live in a pretty good neighborhood, but my next door neighbor said there were some break-ins in the neighboring houses before we moved in. Maybe they targeted safe areas because they think there's more to steal?
