I just realized that I hadn't updated yet today, and seeing as I'm now consciously going for the goal of updating every single day in a month, I thought I'd better do one right quick.

Today I was made the moderator of the brand new community westerfeldfans, for fans of the YA author Scott Westerfeld. If you're a fan, you should join! And if you've never read ( Read more... )

I just watched Donnie Darko too! I asked my friend about it, 'cause it's his favie movie, but he said the only way to understand is to watch it five or six more times.

Geez. I'm not patient enough to watch a movie six times before understanding dawns.

Hee, the thing is that it's impossible -- literally impossible -- to figure out what the director meant based on what shows up on the screen, especially in the original cut (the rereleased version makes it a bit easier). I actually liked my interpretation of the movie better than the "real" meaning that Richard Kelly explains in the DVD special features, but still...

For me, I didn't care so much that I didn't know what the heck was going on because I had the feeling that it all made sense, somehow, and that was enough. Well, almost enough, anyway. And as for not wanting to watch it five times to figure out what's going on, wait a few weeks and see if you don't end up watching it again and again in spite of yourself. That's what happened to me. :)

Locus ran a review of each version which pretty much sum up everything else I'd have to say:

I write a lot, so daily isn't an issue at all. There's always something, whether it be a Daily Recap or Exerbabble, or a special edition entry.
