Oaths & Exercise III
Got out again this morning. Managed to jog a little farther on the first go. And managed more jogging lengths than last time. On the down side to accomplish this I needed to slow down the fast walking to allow the shin splints to die down to a dull roar. I'm not sure which way is better. Jogged Saturday & Sunday. Skipped Monday. Jogged this morning.
What I have learned: I am horribly out of shape.
The difference between TKD and jogging/running is that most sparring doesn't last more than a minute or two before pausing. Jogging never ends. :(

Car & some Lore
Had an appointment at 7:30am at Saturn this morning to have a the car looked at. It is indeed something in the linkage. Yay! The mechanic said it would take about 2 days to get the part in and cost $350 plus tax to do the job. Even better! Back to work
Unfortunately vacation is over. Book reading slowed considerably the last few days as work approached and I had to finish up my year end review stuff.
Which leaves me a little over halfway through Gods and Myths of Northern Europe by H.R. Ellis Davidson. And it's likely to stay that way as I don't have much reading time when I'm on the grave ( Read more... ) -
Lore, lore, lore...
Finished Freya, Lady, Vanadis: an Introduction to the Goddess, by Patricia M. Lafayllve. A very insightful read. I found it well-written and equally well-annotated.
Today's (next) read: Gods and Myths of Northern Europe by H.R. Ellis Davidson, also on the recommended reading list. -

Finished Beowulf (The Seamus Heaney translation) late last night. As embarrassing as it now sounds, this was the first time I've gone back to it since it was forced upon me in high school. I finished The Saga of the Volsungs this morning. It was a deep story written in simplistic prose. It perfectly illustrated the ideas of wyrd, the principles of honor (bloody as they may be at times), and the repercussions of breaking oaths.

Got a copy of the first year curriculum for the Lore program. Yay! Even if I don't get in, it has a pretty comprehensive list of reads.
