all your points are valid. i still enjoy Who, tho, and will continue watching, probably because it's something i do with my grandson. which maybe makes me realize, yeah, this is still considered a kid's show and he loves the heck out of it. so viewed in that light....i will be less picky. but everything you said is true, and dt can annoy the heck out of me. along with rtd's writing, sometimes i just wanna go....regenerate already. both of you.

so, what p2p do you use, lol.....

I did, mostly, until this season. *sigh* How sad is it, that I'd take back old Who in a heartbeat, with all its sexism etc., over the new ones, after series 3? *sigh*

I'll probably watch, too, and hope that Donna smacks the Doctor a few times, to try to get some compassion into him. It still burns me, that the Doctor showed far more compassion to the Master, than he did to Jack. Gah!

So how old is your grandson, and what does he does he think of the Doctors and companions?

I'd be fine with RTD leaving, and DT's Doctor being written to have more mercy (still wish Jack had taught him to have some!) and see how much the Doctor could improve, from that one simple act.

I go to mininova usually, to get the torrent and d/l it with uTorrent, and I've used eMule (not for DW or TW) but it can take a really, really, really long time. What do you use?

oh yeah, i forgot how much i really really really hated the doctor's reaction to the master's death, (did i say really?). thanks for reminding me. it was so blatantly hypocritical. but maybe, as has been suggested, he really is the doctor's brother. that will probably get written in unless the master regens again as a female, in which case he is the doctor's sister. (HE is SISTER lol). loved 'curse of the fatal death' btw, where the master and the doctor left together wink wink).

grandson daegan is 8 and he digs it, all around, he'll come over and choose a season to watch. or an episode. but i think...'blink'...is our favorite right now. the thing is, DW is still better than alot of the crap out there that kids watch.

i've been using emule. yes really long time. gonna check out utorrent and mininova. worthit?

:)

*reads it over* Nope, you didn't.

;)

You're welcome. Yes, it was, and another reason I really disliked 10, seeing his reactions to Jack's deaths, and the Master's. He could have at least let Martha make Jack more comfortable, when it was death by electrocution, in "Utopia".

Just followed you back here from your comment on my journal, and I agree with most of what you've said here - except that I still very much enjoyed the last three episodes even though they could have done SO much more with Jack. I was very disappointed by LotTL on first watching, mainly because of the absense of Jack and (virtually) of the Doctor, but on rewatching there's still a lot I like and Simms really does carry the episode.

Re. the Face of Boe thing, I rewatched this ep a couple of days ago and I'm absolutely convinced it has to be Jack having a joke on the Doctor. Jack's all ready to take off, has said his goodbyes, saluted and started to walk away, and then he turns back and asks what happens if he gets really old??? Don't tell me he hasn't been thinking about that for 140 years - he would have asked sooner! And that is a really awkward lead-in to him reminiscing about being a poster boy. And as he's telling this little story, his eyes are all twinkly and shifty and he keeps looking like he's trying not to grin too ( ... )

I'm glad you did. :) Welcome, make yourself comfortable, don't mind the dust. ;)

I'll probably enjoy rewatching "Utopia" (supposed to be airing here on Sept. 17th) and I'll probably rewatch the Jack bits in "The Sound of Drums", but even a couple of months later, I have no wish to watch the finale again, any of it. I think I'll probably watch the 4th series, but right now, it'll be more out of habit/a couple of things sound interesting, rather than any real desire to see what's going to happen next on the show, and that's a shame, since I've enjoyed it for so long.

Thank you!!!! That was great, and I really loved how fast Jack escaped, once he was unchained! I really appreciate that you came over and told me about it. :)

Well, you weren't the only one who pestered me to get Jack out of there, but you were the one who shouted loudest :-)

And of course I came over here to tell you. How else would you have known I'd written it? *g*

Damn, Jack is so purty, isn't he? *enjoys your icon*

Yay! I got a kick out of being mentioned up at the top, too. :)

Heh, when I hit (still don't know how to make it show up as a link, but for a single user I do... how do I do it for a comm?) galactic_conman I'd've hopefully seen it listed. :)

I had to come and read your episode review after reading the whole discussion about how much you hated "LOTTL" in the commentary for fajrdrako's Jack/Martha piece. I agree with so much of what you say here. "Utopia" for the most part was great, not counting how Ten was a bit of an icy prick in parts... but then came the horrors of "SOTTD" and "LOTTL" and the plot holes you could drive supercarriers through. FoB thing aside (don't get me started on that, I could rant and rave and point out 30 or so problems with it) the episodes were still riddled with problems. The timeline doesn't work. Jack is still a felon, no one wonders what happened to the US President-elect's body (yes, that's what he's referred to as) or Saxon's body, Leo Jones randomly disappears and Ten's an arse.

*sigh* I'll make sure to watch Moffat's DW episode (assuming he writes one for S4) but I'm not sure I'll go out of my way to watch any of the others.

Heh, I think you mean, reread. *grin* *points above, to other comment you left here... but I'm glad my rant still makes sense*

I hope you enjoyed my ranting there, too, over in fajrdrako's lj. I've ranted some more, over there. *grin*

Thanks. :) I've now watched "Utopia" 8 times, TSOD 2 times, and, well, the less said about The Episode That Never Was, the better.

Heh, I'd be happy to read that rant and all the reasons it doesn't work. If you do write it, give me a link to it, so I can read it.

Lol, I didn't even notice I'd commented on this before! (Not enough donuts in the diet I guess)

Have you read the fics at notsobigheaded ? They had a ficathon explaning away the FoB comment. Not serious commentary, but still interesting ways around it.

I know I've ranted about the continuity problems a ton of places but can't remember where... My problems started with the first seconds of "Utopia" (it'll only take 20 seconds to refuel the Tardis (before he knows the rift's been active) yet in Boom Town it took 24 hours) and just multiplied as the episodes went on.

Btw- it's been announced Moffat will be writing the CHildren in Need special, and it'll have both Five and Ten in it!

Damn right, not enough donuts in the diet... or at least, not enough double chocolate ones! ;)

Yep, I've read those. :)

I'd still like to read a new take on what would happen after TSoD, without The Episode That Never Was being around, how would a fan author resolve it all?

I know I've ranted about the continuity problems a ton of places but can't remember where... And let's not forget how fast Jack (a) found a backpack and (b) stuff the jar with the hand into it.
