Submitted my last TEAM paper today! Yay! Now if/when I pass, I'll be able to apply for my provisional certificate, a step up from my initial that expires next year

OMG YOUR GOVERNOR IS SUCH A SHMUCK!!!! I cannot believe he wants to take away professional certifications! You have a Masters you're a professional! The teachers before us had it so good!
In NY each district votes in the teacher contract to take away steps or not. If the teachers do it then the custodian, teacher assistant, administration and non instructional unions usually follow us. Because the budgets are so high this year, to elevate the bidget increase, teachers in other districts have taken pay freezes and hard freezes. Hard freezes are no steps for classes and no movement for years of teaching. When is your budget vote? Mine is May 15th...I'm crossing my fingers.

Yeah, taking away steps is also in negotiations. There's so much wrong with this plan it's absurd. If it passes, we can say goodbye to highly qualified teachers and any semblance of a good education. Those test scores and that school district CT has always been so proud of will eventually disappear everywhere from the inner-city projects to the elite mansions.
